She gave us all a tremendous gift by explaining and teaching us.

Comment on I have a Master’s in Artificial Intelligence. I’m leaving the tech industry. by Harshini Rajachander https://www.thesmartset.com/i-have-a-masters-in-ai/#comment-21754 Wed, 21 Feb 2024 20:42:24 +0000 https://www.thesmartset.com/?p=62915#comment-21754 In reply to Grieving Son.

Hi Grieving Son,

I’m so sorry to hear about your dad. It sucks that tech companies are losing more and more touch with the human side of things.

And in my view, experienced tech employees have a wealth of information and wisdom that many companies take for granted and are now sadly, discarding. They were also the ones I made genuine connections with as they used to speak openly about their families and personal journeys.

I hope you figure out what’s best for you going forward and find the space where you feel truly valued. Good luck!

PS: Dinosaurs are awesome.

It seems like more women are being pushed out of the tech industry.

Baffling when you consider that only a few years ago there was a big push to get women into the industry and profits are at the highest they’ve ever been for the big tech giants.

I similarly am contemplating leaving tech. Just got fired after spending too much time grieving my father’s passing.
The meat grinder is just getting started. I have worked in tech for 25 years and its only getting worse. When I started there was not much allure about tech. You needed to have skill to code. Now its just generated for you. The thought process is completely different. The problems dont look even remotely similar. Ive fought from becoming a dinosaur for much of the past 15 years and now the writing is on the wall.
For those that can afford to, you should get out with your dignity and your sanity.
