Not simply as evidence of how an artist eventually comes to terms with his medium, theme, etc. But as the substantial expression of our essential humility before the infinite. I recently came across an interesting experiment in “faux memoir” that, despite the “author’s” expressed intentions represents, I think, the literary dimension the “unfinished.” I’ve seen this particular work referred to on several different magazine and literary websites, so it’s resonating with an audience beyond the one you probably intended. Which, when you think about it, is also another aspect of the “unfinished.” You’ll find it at http://bit.ly/1MN8CWC.
